According to Reuters, over 25% of Americans lie to their dentists about flossing. This is not news to dentists-- we can tell when you aren't flossing. Flossing removes plaque between teeth and along the gumline. It also prevents cavities from forming between the teeth. If you, as a non-flosser, have ever had a problem with these types of cavities or with your gums, your dentist is on to you. Also, there's a cleanliness to the mouths of flossers that just isn't there in those who don't do it. We can just tell.
